Jillian Integrated Resources Limited successfully executed the construction of a 5.8-kilometre concrete road in Ayakoro Community, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State. This project was initiated to provide durable access routes for rural mobility, agricultural transport, and social integration. The use of rigid pavement (concrete) over traditional asphalt ensures a longer life span and resistance to the area’s challenging environmental conditions.
The terrain in Ayakoro is naturally swampy, with heavy rainfall and poor soil bearing capacity, which often undermines the stability of conventional roads. These conditions, along with the logistical complexities of transporting materials into a remote community, posed serious engineering and planning challenges.
To ensure long-term performance, Jillian Integrated Resources opted for rigid concrete pavement, offering superior durability against flooding and erosion. The road construction process included: Site clearing and subgrade preparation Compacted laterite base course Reinforced concrete casting for the final pavement layer Drainage management to prevent water accumulation and surface degradation The finished road now provides smooth, year-round access, supporting economic activities and improving quality of life for residents in Ayakoro and neighboring communities.
