Jillian Integrated Resources Limited was contracted to construct a 1.1-kilometre access road in Oruma Community, located in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. This infrastructure project was initiated to improve transportation, accessibility, and economic activity within the community by delivering a durable, weather-resistant road structure tailored to the region’s terrain.
The Challenge
Bayelsa’s terrain posed major challenges, including high water tables, soft soil conditions, and limited drainage infrastructure. These environmental factors required careful geotechnical evaluation and innovative engineering solutions to ensure road durability and safety, especially during the rainy season.
Our Solution
Jillian Integrated Resources applied a strategic construction approach that began with soil stabilization and the use of geo-textile materials to prevent erosion. The road base was compacted using premium-grade laterite, followed by stone base application and asphalt surfacing. Proper drainage channels were constructed on both sides of the road to manage runoff and prolong road lifespan. The project was delivered efficiently and has significantly improved intra-community mobility and access to nearby towns.
